What the Rotterdam to Hull crossing is like
P&O’s timetable shows a nightly evening departure from Europoort and a morning arrival in Hull between about 07:00 and 08:00. With the clocks going back an hour, the crossing is roughly 11½ to 13 hours depending on the night. Arriving early means UK border checks happen before the motorways fill up, and a full night in a cabin makes the drive home easier.
Leaving Rotterdam
The “Rotterdam” ferry sails from the Europoort Ferry Terminal on Luxemburgweg, out in the port area. P&O describes it as about a 30-minute drive from Rotterdam. P&O coach transfers do not carry pets, so foot passengers travelling with a dog need their own way to the terminal.
Arriving in Hull
The overnight ship docks at King George Dock in Hull, with the A63 leading west to the M62. After UK border checks the morning is still young, which suits a long drive home. Foot passengers should arrange onward transport from the dock in advance.

On the westbound crossing the arrangements match the outward trip — one of six pet-friendly cabins per ship or a kennel on deck 7, with no pets left in cars — but first the dog needs a vet’s tapeworm treatment in the Netherlands or wherever you have been staying, inside Great Britain’s window.

- Tapeworm window
- A vet must treat the dog for tapeworm no less than 24 hours and no more than 5 days before you arrive in Great Britain. Count back from the Hull arrival time, not the departure.
- Booking
